Pre & Post-Scans in Northern VA - Level 5 Solutions

Pre-Scan

Armed with the knowledge of what a full and proper repair will entail, our technicians' repair plan will be much more accurate, with no surprises requiring additional approval at the end of the repair process. Not only does a pre-scan reduce supplement frequency, but it also is required by the majority of vehicle manufacturers.

Post-Scan

A post-scan is a confirmation that all related DTCs have been addressed during the repair and that no new issues have been caused by the repair process. Both pre- and post-scans serve as documentation of related damage and that the repairs were performed correctly.

The pre-scan should be performed prior to any disassembly or diagnostics to gain an accurate picture of the vehicle’s damage. The post-scan should be performed after the vehicle is fully reassembled and after any required mechanical repairs, ADAS calibrations, and programming is completed.

How It Works

The technician connects to the vehicles onboard computer via a vehicle communication interface (VCI) and scan tool. The VCI must be physically connected to the vehicle while the ignition is on to communicate with the modules. The technician instructs the scan tool to run the scan, detecting any DTCs present in the various modules, including ABS, engine, emissions, powertrain, transmission, transfer case, ADAS, radar, sonar, SRS, occupant classification, body electrical, cameras, keyless access, telematics, integrated driver support, CAN gateways, AWD/4WD, power steering, electronic power steering, active steering, power braking, immobilizer, tire pressure monitor, combination meter, doors, liftgate/deck lid/tailgate, sunroof, seat motors, stop & start, HVAC, steering angle sensor, rain/light sensor, instrument cluster, lamps, adaptive headlamps, auto high beams, radio, sound system, battery, chassis control, and more.
